Lynx

A lynx is a type of mammal, there are many different species of lynxe, Eurasian Lynx, Canada Lynx, lberian Lynx, and Bobcat. Lynx mate in early spring or late winter.  About two months later, females give birth to a litter of one to four young. Lynx bring out their cubs for their first hunt when there around six weeks old.  Lynx are conavorse, and even spot prey up to 250 feet away.  The name lynx is a laten word meaning "To shine" which probably in referance to their eyes.  Lynx licks themselves like normal cats, expecaily after kills so they can like off all the blood left over.  To help sharpen there claws they will sometimes scratch a tree.  When it is time for mating, the female will do a low hissing and sometimes growl to attract males.  All lynx can jump very high, if they stalk a bird then punce to scair it then jump and get the killl.... Most of the time, they will use there teeth and peel off the feathers, One endangered population, the Liberian Lynx, struggles to survive in the mountains of spain, far, far from the cold northern forests where most lynx live. Lynxes have long black tufts, (hairs) growing off the tip of there ears, these are used to help lynxes hear better, they are function as hearing aids which helps them hunt.

-Eurasian Lynx--- Males usually weigh from 18 to 30 kg! (40 to 66 lb) and females weigh 8 to 21 kg (18 to 46 lb).  Eurasian Lynx climate is Western Europe, Boreal Forest of Russia, Central Asia, and Tibetan plateau. The Eurasian lynx is the third largest predator in Erope after the brown bear and grey wolf.  The Eurasain kynx is a medium-sized cat waith thick fur, (yellow to gray-brown, patterned with pale spots or lines), longer legs then the other kind of lynx, dark tufts of fur on the tips of their ears, a collar of longer hair around the neck, and a short tale.  It is the largest species of lynx.  They grow thick, paler winter coats and have large feet that, when thick with their winter coat of fur, enable them to walk easily on the snow like snow shoes. The Eurasian lynx lives in Antarctica, Australia, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

-Canada Lynx---   Most perople say that canada Lynx and Eurasian lynx are the closes in size and shape, but then other people say that canada lynx are closes too bobcats in sizes and shape.

The Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) or Canadian lynx is a North American mammal of the cat family, felidae.  With the recognised subspecies, it ranges across Canada and into Alaska as well as some parts of the northern United States, like Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin.
With a dense silvery-brown coat, ruffed face and tufted ears, the Canada lynx resembles the other species of the mid-sized Lynx genus. It is larger than the bobcat, with which it shares parts of its range, and over twice the size of the Domestic cat.  The Canadian lynx inhabits the area of Alaska, Canada and New England. Over
there it lives mainly in forests.

-Lberian Lynx---  The Iberian lynx resembles other species of lynx, with a short tail, tufted ears and a ruff of fur beneath the chin, like most other lynx. While the Eurasian lynx bears rather pallid markings, the Iberian lynx has distinctive, leoperd-like spots with a coat that is often light grey or various shades of light brownish, and yellow mixed in the brownish color.  There feet are rather big compared to there bodys, but there pads on there feet are small, These are lynx feet print, jsut by looking at this image you can tell that there front paws are ment to kill, and to keep them from falling in deep snow while running.  L
ynxes claws are very, very, very sharp,  (Click here and it will bring you to a pic. of there claws)  Baby lynx need these sharp claws to climb trees to get away from danger;  When lynxe are about to attack they will crouch down, then pounce and swap with their massave paws, once they get their kill, than they will like as much blood as they can before bringing it to there cubs, and if they dont have cubs, than thye will just eat it as soon as it is in there grasp, they use there teeth to pluck out the feathers if it is a bird. The Iberian Lynx lives primarily on the Iberian Peninsula of Europe, specifically Spain and Portugal. The peninsula is on the west end of the Mediterranean Sea.
